Versaperm Vapour Permeability measurement

What links aerospace performance to safety and electronics to gasbags and fuel?

Aerospace performance, safety and electronics, gasbags and fuel

What physical property links performance and safety to gasbags, fuel systems, seals, electronics, hydraulics, refrigerants and much more? - Vapour permeability.

And Versaperm’s systems allow Aerospace and Airship users to measure this for materials, seals, components, sub components or even entire systems. If a seal has the wrong vapour permeability it can let fuel escape.  A gasbag with the wrong permeability would be disastrous, or with a refrigerant it could mean overheating engines.

This can be critical, especially as manufacturing processes themselves may easily change vapour permeability by a factor of four!

The permeability of water vapour, aviation fuel, refrigerants, compressed air, hydraulic fluids and virtually any other gas and material can be measured by Versaperm equipment.  The system is fast and accuracies are typically in the PPM (Parts Per Million) range, with PPB (Parts Per Billion) for some materials. Several samples and gasses may be measured at the same time.

Versaperm equipment can also measure permeability over a wide range of conditions - temperatures can range from -80 C to over +1400 C, along with highly variable pressures (0-300 bar), environments, partial pressures and humidities.
As well as designing, manufacturing and supplying the equipment Versaperm offers laboratory testing and consultancy services.
